Legislation In June 2012, the Cookie Law came into force which is designed to protect online privacy. Every website which measures visitor behaviour and records data using cookies (and that is virtually all websites) must comply with this Cookie Law which is applicable to all websites in the Netherlands and websites which focus on the Dutch market. In short, the Cookie Law requires websites to obtain consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on a computer, smart phone or tablet. It ensures consumers are aware how information about them is collected and used online and gives them a choice to allow it or not.
